Starforge Wardens
★★★★★ 4.5
Starforge Wardens is a proper RPG that somehow fits on a phone without feeling squashed. You lead a small crew across a fractured galaxy, and the combat is turn-based with a clean action queue you can read at a glance. No hidden numbers, no guesswork.
The heart of it is gear. Every piece can be reforged, and small stat choices snowball into very different builds. I ran a tanky engineer for hours before realising a glass-cannon medic was far more fun. The story is light but the writing has a dry humour that carries the quieter moments.
It asks for real attention, so it's not a one-handed subway game. Give it a proper sitting and it opens up nicely. The only downside is a slow opening chapter — push past it.
What we liked
- Readable turn-based combat with no hidden math
- Deep gear reforging encourages experimenting
- Dry, likeable writing between fights
