A starter shelf for new strategy players

People sometimes message us saying strategy games look too complicated to start. I get it — a screen full of resource icons is intimidating. But the genre has plenty of gentle entry points if you know where to look.

Begin with something that limits your choices on purpose. Small maps and tight resources sound restrictive, but they teach the fundamentals faster than a sprawling sandbox where everything is possible and nothing is clear.

Tower defence is a friendly gateway because the loop is visible: place, watch, adjust. You learn cause and effect without needing to memorise a tech tree. From there, moving into base-builders feels natural.

Give yourself permission to lose early and often. Strategy is a skill, not a talent, and the first few losses are just tuition. Once the systems click, it's one of the most rewarding genres on a phone.
